Cheese Factory

In 1918, Max Wilson moved his family and factory equipment to Juddville to operate a cheese factory on the southwest corner of Highway 42 and Juddville Road. The cheese factory then changed ownership about five years later. An article in the Door County Advocate May 4, 1923 edition describes the change of ownership.

  • EGG HARBOR — The Juddville cheese factory, built by Max Wilson several years ago and, operated by the Wilson Store here for the past two years, is changing hands and is now in the management of the farmers. The shippers have started to file articles of incorporation and are meeting with success selling stock in the organization.
  • After holding several meetings, the officers and directors of the new company have been elected as follows: Harry Schuyler, president; Oscar A. Anderson, vice-president and manager; and C. A. Hanson, secretary; and Nels Olson, treasurer. The directors will consist of the officers and Charles Witalison, William Scott, and Frank Schuyler.
  • The incorporation will be to the extent of $2,500. A s soon as the.papers are completed, the new company will purchase the factory, although do (sic)  to the retiring of the present owner, the farmers have already taken over the management.

In 1924, it was reported that the Juddville Cheese Factory was receiving about 2,000 lbs. of milk per day and keeping the involved local farmers busy. (Source: “Egg Harbor”.
