Website

Juddville.org was created to give website visitors a glimpse into the rich and little known history of Juddville, a small, unincorporated town in Door County, Wisconsin.

My wife Patty and I have owned a home in Juddville since 1997 and we’ve always been curious about Juddville’s history. Did Native Americans live in the Juddville area and how far back does their history go? Who were the original settlers from Europe? How were these early settlers able to feed, clothe and shelter themselves?  What businesses existed in the town in its early years?  What role did the waters of Green Bay play in the lives of the early settlers?

We had numerous questions, but few answers. So I set out to see what I could find through research on the Internet, talking to local residents, sifting through physical archives, and doing whatever else I could to learn about Juddville’s history. My intention was to share the results of this research with others so they could appreciate the realities of what life was like in this small Door County town not so long ago. This website is the product of that research effort.

I’ve tried to credit the sources of information wherever possible. Most web pages will contain references to the sources of information for that page.

I know this website will evolve over time as more history is uncovered. So I encourage all local families and historians who’d like to share their Juddville knowledge, stories, photos and other artifacts to contact me about the possibility of making your own special contribution to this website.

I invite all website visitors to explore this site to learn more about the history of Juddville. I hope you will enjoy learning about this special small Door County town and its 150-year history as much as I did.

Sincerely,

Rick Nelson
